The Synod Growth Investment Fund exists to support growth in discipleship, relationships, number and impact within and through congregations. Each year the fund resources a number of projects submitted through an open application process.
There will be a change to the Growth Fund application process for 2026 only:
- Open applications for Strategic Grants will be paused
- There will be one round only of Missional and Innovation grants, with a closing date of 22 May, 2026.
Why the change?
2026 is a year of substantial reorganisation in the life of the Synod of NSW/ACT. Presbyteries play an important role in working alongside congregations to discern which projects should be submitted and supporting those projects as they are implemented and progress over time. The interconcilliar nature of this work is highly valued.
With the 3P project taking place, pausing the rounds in 2026 will allow time for the new Presbyteries to form and begin to discern strategic priorities in their regions, working with congregations and enabling them to prepare adequately for the 2027 application rounds.
Seeds of growth in action
The Synod Growth Investment Fund currently supports more than 50 active grants across the Synod. Some of these are small, one-off projects, others span over five years. This represents a significant investment in the flourishing missional life of congregations to date. The fund is supported through the Seeds of Growth contributions from congregations and Presbyteries. Through our combined Seeds of Growth efforts, we are equipping the church to grow across the Synod.
